This is despicable
Sign a petition to revoke the "Church of Latter Day Saints'" tax exempt status. I find this despicable for many reasons. First, we are not the Church of Latter Day Saints. We are Christian as evidenced by the proper name of our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (emphasis added). And the other thing that irks me, the other thing which leads me to believe this will never pass, is that IT IS NOT THE CHURCH WHICH DONATED $20 MILLION TO THE "YES ON PROP 8" CAMPAIGN. IT IS THE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH. And, taking that into consideration, what these people signing this petition essentially are demanding is to be able to dictate the way that individual citizens of the United States spend their money. Unbelievable.
This is despicable
And this is despicable
After the passage of Prop 8, Mormons are being targeted and harassed at their places of worship (in this case today, the LA Temple). Protesters pointed and yelled at the temple groundskeeper and other priesthood holders, "Shame on you!"
Of particular note is a statement made by one of the protesters with regard to our new president-elect. This catches my attention because of concerns I've voiced about Obama's support of same-sex marriage.
From the LA Times, "He said they were there to remind President-elect Obama of his commitment to gay people and other minorities. He wants federal recognition of gay rights and the right to marry."
*Wow, talk about religious persecution.
